Project Safe, After Prom Committee
Chair: Beth Anna Varson

A safe and appealing celebration option is critical on a night when most high school junior and senior students will attend an after prom celebration. The PTSA Project Safe, After Prom events provide a safe alternative to the private after prom parties where peer pressure often encourages underage drinking, drugs, and unhealthy and dangerous teen behaviors.

Project Safe, After Prom Mission:
1. To assist PTSAs in providing resources about safe and healthy teen behaviors as well as the legal consequences of underage drinking and substance abuse and the dangers of unsafe driving and destructive behaviors.
2. To assist the efforts of PTSAs in coordinating alcohol-free and drug-free After Prom events.
3. To host sharing network sessions to coordinate local high school PTSA’s efforts, share ideas and information on hosting after prom events.

PTACHC Project Safe, After Prom committee partners with:
a. Howard County Public School System
b. HC DrugFree
c. Howard County government
d. Maryland Highway Traffic Safety Program
